The UltraJet prints on a wide variety of substrates including many plastics and paper-based products at speeds up to 600 feet/minute. The 2.12″ printhead is ideal for printing mail addresses, all types of barcodes, lot codes, graphics, and variable data. For larger print areas, up to four printheads can be added and driven by a single controller.
The UltraJet can be ordered with Aqueous ink or UV-curable ink for substrates that don’t absorb ink quickly enough to prevent smearing or smudges. With a UV-curable ink, a UV ink curing system is required and available from Peak Business Equipment, like the one shown below. The ink will instantly cure or “dry” right on the piece without having to slow-down the print speed.
The cost of the ink is another great benefit of the UltraJet as well as the Kirk-Rudy Phoenix inkjet. Both systems use bulk inks the cost far less than an inkjet system using HP-style inkjet cartridges. The price of a typical 40 ml HP cartridge used for porous stocks is around $27. Solvent-based inkjet cartridges are around $45. It takes 25 cartridges to make 1 liter of ink, so your total cost is between $675 to $1,175 / liter of ink. A liter of ink used in the Kirk-Rudy UltraJet or Phoenix inkjet is $150. You save a minimum of $525 and up to $1,025 on each liter of ink.
The UltraJet system can be mounted to many different types of transports or can be ordered with a Kirk-Rudy transport that features a heavy-duty vacuum belt base like the one shown above. Unlike most inkjet system suppliers, Kirk-Rudy offers a wide range of standard and custom-sized vacuum bases to fit your needs.
